APY Benefits & Features
Government Co-Contribution:
- • Government contributes 50% of subscriber's contribution or ₹1,000 per year (whichever is lower)
- • Available only for subscribers who are NOT income tax payers
- • Co-contribution available for 5 years from 2015-16 to 2019-20
- • Maximum co-contribution: ₹5,000 over 5 years
Key Features:
- • Eligibility: Age 18-40 years, must be Indian citizen
- • Contribution Range: ₹1 to ₹5,000 per month
- • Pension Range: ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month
- • Retirement Age: Fixed at 60 years
- • Guaranteed Pension: Government guarantees pension amount
- • Tax Benefits: Contributions eligible for Section 80CCD(1) deduction
Important Notes:
- • Pension starts from age 60 and continues for lifetime
- • Spouse can continue receiving pension after subscriber's death
- • Nomination facility available
- • Can be opened at any bank or post office
- • Premature exit allowed after 60 years (with reduced pension)
- • Account can be transferred between banks/post offices
Pension Amounts:
- • ₹1,000/month pension: ₹42/month contribution (age 18), ₹291/month (age 40)
- • ₹2,000/month pension: ₹84/month contribution (age 18), ₹582/month (age 40)
- • ₹3,000/month pension: ₹126/month contribution (age 18), ₹873/month (age 40)
- • ₹4,000/month pension: ₹168/month contribution (age 18), ₹1,164/month (age 40)
- • ₹5,000/month pension: ₹210/month contribution (age 18), ₹1,454/month (age 40)
